A curious little portrait miniature with an interesting sitter is expected to generate some interest in Lawrence’s auction in Crewkerne on January 17th. “The French School miniature, no bigger than a matchbox label, depicts Eleanor Ambrose (1718-1816). Festive parking cheer for Chard, Crewkerne and Ilminster shoppers
Festive cheer will be spread to shoppers in Chard, Crewkerne and Ilminster with the news that they will be able to park for free on Saturday 17 December. South Somerset District Council’s (SSDC) Area West Committee agreed at their meeting in November to fund free parking on Saturday 17 December to encourage shoppers to support our market towns in the festive season and rediscover what can be bought locally.
FIREARMS SHOOT TO HIGH PRICES IN MILITARIA AUCTION
Lawrences’ bi-annual auction of Militaria, Coins and Medals comprised over 750 lots and keen participation from internet bidders ensured that little was left unsold. Highlights included a Grenadier Guards sword in the 1822 pattern, that had belonged to Frederic Thesiger, later Lord Thesiger (1827-1905). Full story: Read more
