Exceptional weather saw a bumper crowd attending the recent Ferne Animal Sanctuary Fun Dog Show in Wambrook, near Chard, Somerset, enabling the Sanctuary to raise just under £3,000.
Alana Medforth from the Fundraising and Marketing Department said: “With 124 dogs attending, entry numbers for all the different classes on the day were high – along with the temperature. So much so, that we had a VIP “Doggy Cooling Area” where the dogs could cool off in a paddling pool full of water under their own private gazebo.
“Sincerest thanks must go to all our sponsors, donors, volunteers and staff. Also thanks to our Judge, retired Coombefield Veterinary Surgeon, Michael Shaw; Steward Jacqui Leaver and our invaluable compere, Mac Wheadon.
“I would also like to thank Emma Britton from Radio Somerset, who came along with her Beagle, Billy and presented the BIBI Award to the Best Rescue class winner. Without all of these people, this fabulous day would not have been able to go ahead.”
