Lawrences’ Summer auction of Pictures offered nearly 300 lots spanning seven centuries and a selection of high prices across the board reflected the steady demand for quality and rarity. Some of the highlights included £4270 paid for a small portrait of a seated gentleman by Austrian artist Ludwig Guttenbrunn; £4800 for a fine pencil drawing of Croyland Abbey by John Sell Cotman; and £5600 for a fresh and skilful pastel by Leon L’Hermitte. Trowbridge’s budding rock stars raise the roof
Young bands from a Bath and Trowbridge rock school showed that months of practice had paid off when they raised the roof at their end of year concert. SOMERTON PUPILS BUILD ‘POD’ SCULPTURES WITH INTERNATIONAL ARTIST
Pupils at King Ina Academy became artists for the day last month, when international artist Jan Niedojadlo visited and helped them to build their own ‘pod’ sculptures. Jan’s interactive ‘podule’ exhibition had been on display at ACEArts in Somerton earlier this year and received positive comments from visitors of all ages, who were delighted at being encouraged to touch and climb into the artwork.
