Glastonbury Festival Granted Licence

Screen shot 2014-03-12 at 10.07.53One of the world’s biggest festivals has secured a licence for the next ten years – only the second time it’s been granted without a public hearing. From this year Glastonbury Festival will be able to use its new premises licence to hold the event at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset, until 2024. In the past, Glastonbury Festival’s licences have been subject to scrutiny in a public hearing because of objections from the public or concerns from those with an interest in the safety of the event such as the police, fire or ambulance services. Calling aspiring script writers

South Somerset District Council.pngExperienced or first-time writers are being invited to create new five-minute monologues for performance by professional actors in Crewkerne shops. This is a great opportunity to turn a story into a drama! As part of the Trading Local programme, short plays will be developed in workshops led by Shelia Hannon – co-producer of theatre company Show of Strength. Country’s Oldest Craft Guild Encourages Young Blood

UntitledJust because the Country’s oldest craft guild, the Somerset Guild of Craftsmen (SGC), has just celebrated their 80th birthday, does not been it is stuck behind the times – in fact it’s quite the opposite. The guild, which was established in 1933 and boasts a County wide membership of over 160 members, have developed a yearlong programme of events which will include 9 exhibitions.
