Artisan Market’s success in the sun

The Artisan Market held at Browne’s Garden Centre on 12 April was another success for local artisans who came together to supply customers with fantastic food, gifts and crafts while they enjoyed the warm weather.

Bridget Kenny-Levick, Bridget's CakesNew to the Artisan Market this Easter was Lisa Pool from Wish upon The Brightest Star who said  “wishuponthebrighteststar was delighted with the interest in its map stationery; there were lots of comments, queries and local stories that were thrown up by customers with time to stop and chat about map features, changes and their own local knowledge. It’s what makes maps so fabulous, so thank you to all who stopped to investigate!”

The Artisan Market’s charity for 2014 is the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and £197 was raised in raffling a huge Easter Egg which had kindly been donated by Waitrose in Wells.

Lisa Pool from wishuponthebrighteststarThe proceeds go directly to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance who are based in Henstridge on the Dorset/ Somerset border. From there, they can be at any point in the two counties within 19 minutes which proved invaluable following the recent accident at Wells Cathedral. Operational costs are £1.7 million a year which equates to over £2,500 per mission so every penny counts given that they receive no direct funding from the Government or the National Lottery and rely entirely on the generosity of the public for support.

The summer Artisan Market will be at Browne’s Garden Centre on Saturday 26 July from 10.30am to 4pm, stalls are now limited so anyone interested in attending should contact [email protected] or call into the Garden Centre.
