With the Somerset County Council elections just around the corner, elections staff at Mendip District Council are urging residents to act now to make sure they can vote.
The county council elections take place on Thursday 2nd May, and local people need to make sure they have registered to vote by 17th April to ensure they can have their say at the ballot box.
Stuart Brown, Mendip District Council Chief Executive and Electoral Registration Officer, said: “We are urging anyone who has yet to register to vote to make sure they get in touch with us as soon as possible.
“The county elections are now just a few weeks away, but if you haven’t registered to vote by 17th April it’ll be too late.
“We are also reminding anyone who has moved house in the past few months that they will need to register with their new address.”
